学生時代、何度となく取り上げられたコーリン・ロウは、例えばパラーディオとル・コルジュジェの建築を構成する原理の共通性を見出した人として知られています。
一方で古来建築は理想的なプロポーションを求め、建築に反映してきました。
すなわち、柱のサイズや屋根の高さ、飾りも屋根勾配もどれか一つの寸法が決まると建築すべての寸法が決定されてきました。
一方でコーリン・ロウはそれらを抽象化した人、つまり単純な線に置き換えて建物の構成原理を発見した人だと思っています。
この本は伊東豊雄さん、松永安光さんが翻訳された「マニエリスムと近代建築」の原著です。
翻訳版、ちょっとわかりづらかった人（特に透明性とか）はもしかしたら原著の方がわかりやすいかもしれません。
